The College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Celtic Studies at NUI, Galway has announced a new bursary in creative writing. The Listowel NUI, Galway Writer's Bursary will be awarded annually to support the studies of a student on one of the college's masters programmes in Writing, whether in theatre, film, fiction, poetry or documentary prose. Pictured announcing the new bursary, which will commence in 2009, are Professor Kevin Barry, Dean of the College, Senator Fidelma Healy-Eames, and Jimmy Denihan, TD for North Kerry.
Fidelma Healy-Eames holds a PhD in Creative Writing from NUI, Galway and Jimmy Denihan is a stalwart of the Listowel Writer's Festival, which has close links with the Cúirt festival in Galway.
