Mervue native Gerald Barry is to appear at Galway District Court this March. The 30-year-old is to face trial for charges of assault against two gardai, a woman and her two-year-old son. Judge Mary Fahy set the date for the hearing at a sitting of Galway District Court last Wednesday.

Barry was not present, as he is currently serving two life sentences at the Midlands Prison.
