COPE Galway has launched a new initiative to get people in Galway active, fit, meeting new people while helping the most vulnerable living in isolation in our community. As part of 'Team COPE Galway', COPE wants to recruit a team of people, who would commit to training for, and participating in, a minimum of three activity events during 2010 while raising vital funds for their services and supports in Galway.

This initiative is for people who want to get active and who want to set themselves goals for 2010, but don't know how to go about it.

"Team COPE Galway gives you the opportunity to do all these things and much more. If you want to set goals in 2010 like walking a 8km Prom walk, running a race, doing a cycle event or climbing a mountain, whatever you choose.

"If you want a personal trainer and a sports injury therapist providing you with advise and support to help you achieve your goals; if you want to do it as part of a team of people who will all have similar interests and goals and who will be there to support you; most importantly, if you have always wanted to get directly involved in supporting the most vulnerable and isolated people in your community then Team COPE Galway is for you," said Justin McDermott of COPE Galway.

On registering with Team COPE Galway each team member will attend workshops with the team's Personal Trainer, Paul Fallon and Sports Injury Therapist Darren McFarlane, to check fitness levels and to prepare a training and injury prevention plan.

Each member will also receive branded COPE Galway T Shirts and hoodie.

To be part of Team COPE Galway each member will have to raise funds as part of their membership and COPE Galway will provide all the advice and support needed to fundraise.
