The constitutional case of a Galway woman who has been told she cannot serve on a jury because she is deaf is due to conclude in court today.

Joan Clarke, a special needs assistant from Loughrea, is taking the case against the State for discriminating against her on the grounds of her deafness.

The case has been in court for two days, last Thursday and Friday, and is expected to conclude today. However, because it is a constitutional case requiring a written judgement, a decision is not expected immediately.
