Photo: Mike Fitzpatrick The cold, windy and unsettled weather that hit the city and county last week is set to last all week, a spokesperson for Met Éireann has warned. The week began with strong to gale-force winds with gusts of up to 130km an hour and thundery showers on Sunday night and Met Éireann has warned that this weather could be set to continue periodically until the end of the week. "The outlook is for cold and unsettled weather. Today, Wednesday 9 January, will begin very cold but bright with just scattered showers. However it will become wet and very windy, possibly even stormy again. It will become milder for a time with the rain. Winds will ease Wednesday night and frost is likely. "Tomorrow, Thursday 10 January, will be cool and breezy with showers or longer spells of rain. It will be a cold and very frosty Thursday night with light winds but becoming very windy again on Friday 11 January with further rain or showers at times. "In a nutshell, the weather will be cold, windy and very unsettled over the course of the week. Winds will be strong to gale force. There is a risk of frost, though the level will depend on the strength of the winds," said Emily Gleeson of Met Éireann. |
