The LAMA awards aim to honour exemplary projects within the community, to generate recognition of the efforts, accomplishments, and positive contributions of the individuals, companies and local government authorities who make this happen.

The new coach station was built by Galway City Council in conjunction with Enterprise Ireland and McNamara Construction.

The building has been shortlisted under the best mixed-use development category, as it combines to meet the needs of entrepreneurs, commuters and tourists in a single development.

Joe Tansey, Head of Galway Transportation Unit, welcomed the news.

"Since opening, we have been receiving very positive comments on the contribution that this development is making to the city centre. Most notably, feedback on our recent Park and Ride service identified Galway Coach Station as having a significant impact on the marked increased in uptake of the service this year," he added.
