The boil water notice in Clarinbridge will remain in place for at least a number of weeks, according to a spokesperson for HSE West.

The notice was imposed as a precautionary measure following the detection of high levels of clostridium perfringens on Friday 2 November. Follow-up tests conducted early last week showed trace levels of cryptosporidium, although the HSE has said they have not been notified of any cases of cryptosporidiosis in the area.

"Although the most recent test results have been satisfactory, the boil water notice will remain in place until works have been completed to enhance the treatment process at Clarinbridge, which will further ensure the integrity of the supply.

"This work has been prioritised and is underway. It is expected that these works can be completed within a number of weeks, and will result in a more robust water supply for the area," said a spokesperson for HSE West.

Members of the public affected by the notice have been reminded that people in the affected areas should continue to boil water intended for drinking, food preparation, and brushing teeth.
