Plans are well underway for the 17th annual Claregalway Agricultural Show, which takes place next month.

This year there will be over 200 classes of horses, ponies, donkeys, cattle, sheep, goats and pets. The day is not only about animals and there will be home baked goods, jams, crafts, farm produce, photography, flowers, art and several classes for children.

There will be several competitions running throughout the day with an obstacle course for dogs, a donkey derby, bonny baby, junior miss and mister, best-dressed lady and the most glamorous granny. The show queen title was awarded to Michelle Quinn from Cloonacauneen. Michelle was presented with a perpetual trophy and crystal plate at a function in the Central Tavern in Loughgeorge.

The Claregalway Agricultural Show will take place in Duffy's Claregalway Equestrian Centre, Rockwood, Claregalway on Sunday 19 August. For further information, phone 091-799098.
