A fundraising charity night in aid of the Niall Mellon Township (an Irish charity building houses in South Africa) is taking place in the Warwick on Friday 4 July at 9.30pm. The event is in aid of volunteer Caitriona Stokes, who is heading to South Africa to turn her hand at being a builder for a week. On the night many bargains will be available through auction and raffle, including hotel breaks, golfing breaks and vouchers. The main item to be auctioned is an adventure weekend with hovercraft. Altogether, items worth €5,000 will be auctioned on the night. These items were very kindly donated to Caitriona's Niall Mellon fund by many hotels, golf clubs and other businesses throughout Galway and indeed nationwide. There will be live music on the night by Meta4 and entrance to disco afterwards. Caitriona, along with 2,000 others, was accepted as a volunteer for the Niall Mellon 2008 trip. This will be the biggest building blitz yet. As a volunteer, she intends to raise at least €5,000 to pay for the trip and purchase materials to pay for the houses. "Working as a volunteer for one week is a short time but I expect it will be a life-changing experience that will humble everyone who makes the trip," said Caitriona Tickets are available from Caitriona in advance of the night and also at the door. Donations can also be made online at www.irishtownship.com by clicking on Donations and Sponsor a Volunteer and clicking on Caitriona Stokes. |
