Call to nominate passionate individuals E-mail

Vodafone Ireland and Galway Chamber are asking the community to seek out and nominate people who display a passion for the world around them.

Vodafone Ireland and Galway Chamber are calling for nominations for the first round of the 2007 'Passion for the World Around Us' Awards. A range of individuals are eligible for the award, including carers, environmentalists, volunteers or those who simply demonstrate good citizenship through their actions. Recipients of the Passion for the World Around Us Award receive a specially commissioned handmade award designed by Irish artist Michele Hannan, along with a certificate.

Last year's Galway winners were Pat Kelly of Boston Scientific, Niall McNeilis from Claddagh and Celtic Jewellers, and James Harris of Harmac.

Speaking about the 2007 Passion for the World Around Us Awards, Olivia Dobbs, Vodafone Ireland said, "Every one of us knows someone who goes that extra mile to do something that benefits those around them. The aim of these awards is to demonstrate that we recognise and appreciate what the people in these communities do.

"Through this scheme, we have been able to identify a number of unsung heroes in the Galway area. These individuals and businesses are the lifeblood of the local community and we are very proud to join with Galway Chamber to honour them. However, we know that there are more individuals out there who also deserve to be recognised and that's why we are continuing our search. We can't find these people on our own and as such we are asking for everyone's help to seek out these individuals so they can be acknowledged for their efforts," she said.

To nominate someone, pick up a nomination form from Galway Chamber, Vodafone stores or from www.vodafone.ie.
