Oranmore Councillor Jim Cuddy has called on Galway County Council to undertake essential safety work at Casey's Cross in Oranmore.

Cllr Cuddy said the crossroads has been the scene of many accidents, including one in the last couple of weeks.

One of the main problems is a very high wall, which is blocking people's view when they are coming from the Kilcolgan direction, he felt.

"This dangerous cross is a source of considerable anxiety for residents of the area and, having regard to the danger that it poses, I have renewed my call on Galway County Council to take immediate steps to remedy the situation," he said.
