Bus Éireann has been severely criticised for its decision to withdraw its daily service from Tuam to Dublin and to replace it with a Friday and Sunday service only.
Galway East Independent TD Paddy McHugh said that it was impossible for the general public to support the daily Bus Eireann service when they did not know it existed.

"Bus Eireann spends an annual allocation each year on promoting their services throughout the country.

"However, one would have to question their commitment to the Tuam service, because I am not aware of any promotional campaign carried out by Bus Éireann to make people in North Galway aware of the service. Surely, any company wishing the public to buy their services would realise that the first thing they need to do, is make the public aware of the existence of the service." The Deputy has asked Bus Eireann, to suspend their decision to substantially reduce their service to Tuam, and to engage in a vigorous campaign to promote the service.
