People in the Knocknacarra area who had been affected by the burst pipe, which caused their water supply to be cut off, have now had their water fully restored.

The rising pipe, which feeds the Tonabrucky reservoir, burst just after 6am on Monday morning. However the water supply was maintained until around 9.30am "so as to ensure that residents had their water supply for the early morning rush" according to City Council Director of Services Ciaran Hayes.

Work then began on finding and then in repairing the pipe. The repair work lasted throughout the day and most if not all of the houses were resorted with full water supply by 5.30pm on Monday. " The water was back again prior to the evening rush" said Ciaran Hayes.

Mr Hayes apologised for any inconvenience caused and stressed that it has nothing to do whatsoever with any other water problems.
