Gardai in Galway foiled a burglar in the throws of his work on Sunday night last at 11.05pm. Two women were in their apartment in Dun na Mara on the Docks when the 19-year-old male broke into their property. The residents retreated to their bedroom and locked the door, where they proceeded to call the Gardai.

Two uniformed Gardai were on the beat in the area and managed to apprehend the suspect at the scene of the crime, where he was arrested.

The man was unarmed at the time of his arrest and was brought to Mill Street Garda Station where he is currently been questioned in relation to the aggravated burglary under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
