Volunteers are urgently needed to help out with a second-hand book sale, which is taking place at University Hospital Galway (UHG) next week.

The sale will take place from 9am to 9pm on Wednesday 28, Thursday 29 and Friday 30 November and proceeds will go to the Oncology Comfort Fund at the hospital. This is a fund administered by social workers to assist with the most basic needs of patients afflicted with cancer.

The organisers of this event are appealing for people to contribute books of all kinds, other than schoolbooks, in good condition for this worthy cause and also to help man the sale on the day. Anyone wishing to help can leave books into UCHG on the afternoon of Tuesday 27 November or before that to Community Services, 25 Newcastle Road.

For more information on the book sale, or to volunteer contact Vera Reidy on 087-23337941.
