Thieves who stole an expensive speedboat in an early morning raid in Galway yesterday got cold feet and abandoned it in Limerick. The €10,000 speedboat was found abandoned close to the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick yesterday afternoon. Gardai believe that the thieves became concerned when details of the boat were broadcast on radio.

An angle-grinder was used to cut through a gate and gain entry to the yard at Ivors in Rahoon.

Gardai say the incident happened around 5.45am yesterday and the raiders stole a large yellow twin-engine speedboat and a boat trailer.

The speedboat is distinctive with the letters 'SEADOO' written on its sides.

Gardai at Mill Street (091-538000) have appealed for witnesses.
