A 25-year-old Galway man, who is charged in connection with a shooting in the city last February, has been remanded on continuing bail to next September for service of a Book of Evidence in the matter. John Paul Sweeney, 102 Fearann Ri, Doughiska, is charged with having a single barrel Marlin shotgun in his possession with intent to endanger life at Castlepark, Ballybane, Galway, on 21 February last.

Inspector Mick Coppinger told Galway District Court on Monday that evidence in the matter was of a very complicated and technical nature and the book of evidence was not yet ready.

Judge Mary Fahy remanded Sweeney on continuing bail by consent to appear before Galway District Court again on 21 September next for service of a Book of Evidence.
