The 30th annual Galway Arts Festival, which kicked off on Monday evening at The Galway Bay Hotel, is set to generate over €20 million for the city.

This year's festival is looking to break all previous records due to the phenomenal online sales over the past two weeks. The 2007 online sales are twice that of last year, making this year's festival the place to be in the coming fortnight.

The festival, which features a host of international and local actors, musicians and comedians, will bring an estimated 150,000 visitors to the city.

The Macnas Festival Parade, 'The 9th Wonder of the World' hits the streets on Sunday from 3pm. The style of this year's parade is 1940's monster/superhero movies with a comic book/old style Hollywood feel.
