A new drive is underway to build social and affordable housing in the city.

Galway City Council is proposing to enter into an agreement with successful candidates to design and construct up to 200 houses within the city council area.

The council will only consider proposals for self-contained finished housing estates, which will be ready to occupy in turnkey condition.

It is currently envisaged that bids will be invited on 27 November and valuation of bids will be complete in or around 28 March 2008.

The pre-qualification questionnaire can be downloaded from the European Tenders Website, www.e-tenders.gov.ie or Galway City Council website, www.galwaycity.ie.
