Two additional recycling banks are to be installed at the 'Bring Centre' on the Western Distributor Road.

Welcoming the decision by the Environment Section of Galway City Council, Councillor Donal Lyons said: "The inclusion of two additional recycling clothing banks at the Bring Centre will be of great assistance to those in the community who wish to dispose of reusable clothing. Up to now, only glass could be recycled at the bring centre.

"The existing bottle banks are extensively used and I have no doubt that the additional clothing banks will also be of major assistance in the recycling initiative and will help to divert away from landfill.

"In general, the vast majority of people who use the bring banks are conscious of keeping the area around the banks tidy. However, a small minority of people continue to abuse and leave cartons, bags and other receptacle at the banks, which leads to littering. I am appealing to those people to use the banks responsibly and to dispose of non recyclables properly."
