Over 3,400 Galway students will be on tenterhooks this morning as they get set to sit the first of their Leaving Certificate exams. English Paper One will kick off proceedings at 9.30am this morning, with the Home Economics paper this afternoon. Tomorrow, Thursday sees English Paper two in the morning with the Chemistry paper to follow in the afternoon. On Friday, students will have to get to grips with Maths paper one, while some students will have the Geography paper in the afternoon. The weekend will bring a well-earned break for students but it also allows time to do the final preparations for the following weeks exams of Irish papers one and two, Business, French, History, Biology, art and all the other selected subjects. This year's Leaving Certificate will run until Friday 20 June with applied Science and Maths wrapping up this year's test. One Leaving Certificate student told the Galway Independent she was "just looking forward to starting the exams". "The work is done now, so at this stage of the year you just want to get in there and get them over with." |
