Fifteen local charities will benefit from this year's Mayor's Ball, which will be held in the Galway Bay Hotel on Saturday 28 April.

Five of the largest charities to benefit from the ball will be Galway Rape Crisis Centre, Console, Aware, Cope and the John Paul Centre.

The remaining charities are Helping Hands, Galway Sea Sports, Conradh na Gaelige, Access Music Project, Chernobyl Children's Project, Threshold, Simon, Enable, Aids West and After School Together, all of whom will benefit from the proceeds raised at the ball.

Mayor O Brolchain said he was delighted to be able to help raise funds for local causes. "We are working on a number of interesting projects that should make the ball something special to remember," he said.

Tickets for the ball cost €95 each and they are available from the Galway Bay Hotel, the Mayor and all of the charities. Sponsorship and donations will also be accepted.
