Thirteen, €13,000 that is, is a lucky number for St Vincent de Paul, with news coming this week that the charity's Ballinasloe branch is to receive that amount under the Scheme of Community Support for Older People.

The funding was confirmed by Galway Deputy Noel Treacy who warmly welcomed the funding and commended the organisation for the work it does in Ballinasloe.

"The St Vincent de Paul plays a crucial and important role in the local and larger community of Ballinasloe and I would like to commend all those involved in it for their worthwhile and selfless work," he said.
