Almost €500,000 has been allocated to support the further development of quality childcare in Galway during 2007 with the money going towards the 2007 Childcare Action Plan.

Galway City Councillor Michael Crowe said that he was delighted to learn that the Minister for Children, Brian Lenihan TD, had allocated €435,750 towards the further development of childcare in Galway city and county.

"This significant funding is indicative of the commitment this Government has to facilitating quality childcare.

"The Galway City and County Childcare Committees do great work in the promotion of the concept of quality childcare by providing supports in the form of advice, training, and networking at regional and national levels."
