A man who pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol in his system was fined €400 (endorsed) and disqualified from driving for two years at Galway District Court this week.
Mr Liam Cullinane, with an address at 119 An Fiodan, was convicted of the offence, which occurred at Moneenageisha Road, Galway, on 11 June 2006. He was fined a further €400 for no insurance. A charge of failing to produce insurance was taken into consideration. Another charge of having no driving licence was dismissed, while he received the Probation Act for a charge of failing to produce a driving licence. A dangerous driving charge was withdrawn by the State.
Ms Olivia Traynor, solicitor, said her client was going through difficulties at the time. She added that the defendant had missed an instalment on his insurance, but had not been aware of it and genuinely thought he was insured.
