Galway Alliance Against War (GAAW) is continuing its campaign against the Lisbon Treaty, saying it is "not going to sit idly by" while the 'yes' campaign ignores the wishes of the Irish people.

The group said: "The European political elites don't believe the word 'no' should be in our vocabulary. And so, they and their supporters in the media are looking for ways around that uncomfortable little word."

The group has prepared a bilingual petition, addressed to Taoiseach Brian Cowen, and is asking Galway people to sign.
