The secret to successful slimming is to focus on increasing quality of life and let slimming become a beneficial side affect, Neuro Linguistic Programmer Diarmuid Lavelle tells Lisa Regan.

Weight, diet and size are some of the most talked about items in the media these days, with a new diet out almost every week and articles on how to get the 'perfect body' a constant feature on newspaper stands, the TV and in magazines.

But, despite our obsession with weight and weigh loss, as nation we are getting fattier, due to increased processed foods in our diet, lack of exercise and trying and failing all of the faddy diets that are out there nowadays.

Now however, one man believes he has the answer to the age old question surrounding maintaining ones weight.

Diarmuid Lavelle is a fully qualified, internationally recognised trainer of Neuro Linguistic Programming.

He holds a degree from National University of Ireland, Galway and is qualified and licensed as a therapist and life coach. He has over 11 years full time experience seeing clients on a daily basis for change and development. He is giving courses on personal development, slimming, NLP and hypnosis in Galway since 1993.

Diarmuid has just published a book titled 'The Sensual Slimmer'. This book shows people how to install three powerful habits that contribute to happiness and successful weight loss.

The Sensual Slim Strategy, he says, is a revolutionary new process that is guaranteed to enable you to achieve and keep your ideal weight without dieting! The process includes a unique approach to addressing weight problems that means you can slim and stay slim.

The process is used to change your attitude to food and install effective eating habits. An ensuing natural weight loss of two pounds per week continues until you achieve your ideal weight.

This new, positive approach to slimming, he says, is very successful and very powerful. And, there are no diets involved!

The basic steps include:

  1. Letting go of all negativity around eating and food;
  2. Enjoying food more and actually eating less;
  3. Getting to your ideal slimness, and staying there!

There are three core elements to the sensual slimming approach for losing weight: mechanics - learning to eat properly; psychology - enjoying the food we eat; and movement - exercising the body and mind.

"The slimming process is actually hard wired into the human body, if people give it a chance. The secret to successful slimming is to focus on increasing quality of life and let slimming become a beneficial side affect," explains Diarmuid.
