While alternative therapies are becoming more and more popular, a Galway homeopathy school has warned fans to be vigilant when choosing a practitioner.

The issue of licensing and registration of complementary and alternative practitioners has been in the news again recently and Clare Sheehan of the Galway College of Homeopathy has warned that it is imperative that people are seen by a registered therapist.

"It is imperative that the general public know that there is a national body with a register of practitioners who have been vetted by the organisation to ensure public safety," she says.

Homeopaths must have completed the required level of education from an accredited college and gained the necessary experience to become registered members of the Irish Society of Homeopaths. Registered members of The Irish Society of Homeopaths (identifiable by the designation 'ISHom') have a recognised professional qualification, comprehensive insurance and have agreed to abide by a strict code of ethics and practice.

The Galway College has successfully completed the full accreditation process with the Irish Society of Homeopathy, which is the regulating body for professional homeopaths in Ireland.

The Galway College is the only college in the West of Ireland offering a four-year professional training course. They also organise a range of seminars given by world renowned homeopaths. Check out www.galwayhomeopathy.com for further information.
