Exercise is fundamental to any man's de-stress routine. Join a gym, go golfing, start jogging, swimming or even skipping. What ever you do, get moving and active. This will help remove excess adrenaline from the body and result in a stark decrease in physiological symptoms of stress. Once a week is not enough. Ideally do some form of exercise everyday ? not obsessively, but regularly even if it's taking the dog on a 45 minute walk in the evening after work. This will be an opportunity to also wind down and process the day as well. Sometimes stress in men can be accompanied by some illness or physical problems. Always contact your GP before you make any change in your lifestyle, diet or exercise programme, especially if you are on any medication. Take regular massages or some kind of relaxation therapy. Women find it easy to pamper themselves; men often turn to drink and cigarettes. Break this cycle by introducing once a week healthy treats. You will look better for it, feel better and perform better in every area of life. Retail therapy works for men too! Go out and get a new look and throw out those pants you've been wearing for the last 15 years. You won't believe how much better you feel afterwards. Always consult your GP before starting any new regime or self treatment. Next week: stress in men and food.
