As the festive season looms and the dreaded 'What will I get them?' question hangs in everybody's mind, Concern has come up with a solution to the present buying problem.

Concern is running a 'Positive Present' incentive this Christmas, aimed at eliminating the negative and accentuating the positive this Christmas.

Concern is asking Galway people to put pineapples, beehives, water filters and even toilets on their Christmas shopping lists instead of the usual boring socks, slippers and smellies.

When you 'complete the picture' with Positive Presents, you will be giving to some of the world's poorest people in the developing world. There are lots of gifts to choose from for every budget. From pineapple plants for €12 to a water pump for a village for €100, Concern's Positive Presents will make a real difference to those most in need. As far as possible Concern sources its gifts in countries it works in so as to support local economies.

Last year, Irish consumers splashed out an estimated €4 billion on Christmas gifts, many of which were buried at the back of the closets and soon forgotten. With Concern's Positive Presents, your gift will not only bring a smile to those who receive it on Christmas Day but will make a lasting positive impact on the lives of people in the developing world.

Thanks to Concern Christmas gifts in 2006, 10,902 people are now protected from malaria by mosquito nets and 4,500 people have access to clean water thanks to the construction of 18 wells in Somalia. In South Sudan, 4,350 students were provided with school supplies and in the Democratic Republic of Congo 14,604 received seeds and tools.

Simply log onto www.positivepresents.org or phone 1850-458400 and let Concern eliminate the negative and accentuate the positive this Christmas.
