Needling doubts about Chinese medicine
Page 2

While the mask worked its magic, it was time to bite the bullet and finally try the acupuncture. After assessing my needs, Marguerite decided on a treatment that would release stress and help my sinuses. The first needle was to go in my face, between my eyes. After telling me to take a deep breath, she inserted the needle. Other than a slight pinch, it was completely painless. She then continued to place two needles in my hand and one in my foot and left me to relax and feel the benefits.

Even with the feel of the tightening mask on my neck and face, I found all my muscles begin to relax and, when Marguerite returned to remove the mask a short while later, I was almost asleep! The needles remained in place for a further ten minutes while she removed the mask and spritzed my cleansed skin with a cooling mist. She then continued to apply a moisturising serum to my face and neck before finishing the treatment and removing the needles.

Overall, I was very impressed with the treatment and with the acupuncture itself, despite my earlier doubts. Marguerite's background in medicine and her huge amount of experience is very reassuring and means that she is a mine of useful and interesting information about traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture and general health.

In the hour I spent at the clinic, I received advice on skincare, health and diet and returned to work completely relaxed and with a glowing complexion. This holistic approach in such a chilled-out environment is a world away from many other one-dimensional treatments, offering something for mind, body and spirit.
