Having used every variety of suncream known to man over the years, in an attempt to protect pale skin while allowing it to tan, this lotion appeared to be perfect for my needs. With an SPF of 15: enough to protect but not enough to entirely stop a few freckles. And L'Occitane's reputation precedes it. ![]() In some respects, the lotion is perfect. It's a light formulation, slightly chalky, but with a pleasant enough feel on application that doesn't leave your skin greasy or sticky. However, there are two major problems with it. Firstly, the colour, and secondly, the smell. The lotion is a lovely sunny yellow colour coming out of the bottle, but unfortunately that's the colour it remains, on your skin and on your clothes. This stuff stains like red wine, so wearing white to bring up your emerging tan is not an option. In fact, wearing any colour that doesn't actually match the lotion's sunshine hue is not an option. Also, the smell. It's not a terribly strong smell, but it's not particularly pleasant either. Like a lot of people, I like my suncream to smell of holidays, which usually means coconut. But this just smells mildly of chemicals. As a fan of L'Occitane, it pains me to say it, but this one gets the thumbs down. |
