![]() As the winter nights grow darker and the recession looms larger, we could all use a little pick-me-up. There is nothing like a little tanning to make you feel more attractive. However, streaky tans are a big fashion faux pas, so pay attention and make sure your glow is flawless this party season. Before applying tan, make sure to exfoliate and moisturise thoroughly. Try using a flannel facecloth with an exfoliating product, such as St Ives Exfoliating Body Wash, to ensure any dead skin is removed and to avoid dark patches. [An industry insider recently advised me that combining baby oil with Epsom salts makes for a very effective pre-tan scrub.] Next lather on the moisturiser to rough areas, such as ankles and elbows, as well as feet and hands. Johnson's 24 Hour Moisture is a great rich formula that gives long lasting results. Whether getting a salon spray-on or applying at home, make sure to let the formula dry completely before putting on clothing and wait the recommended time before washing off residue. Some of our favourite at-home tans include Rimmel Sunshimmer Instant Tan Make-Up, Sublime Bronze Self Tanning Gel and Vani-T Organic Tanning Mist. After you have successfully become a more bronzed version of yourself, make sure to keep moisturising to ensure it stays looking flawless for longer. And if that worse case scenario crops up and your lovely new tan comes up patchy, take a tip from us and use Cif household cleaner! Hey it may not be orthodox but it works! |
