Eyebrows can often be the forgotten detail when it comes to applying make-up, but it is amazing the difference a little TLC can make. The shape and colour of your eyebrows can have a huge impact on your face in general, so keeping those brows groomed is an essential part of your beauty regime. Make-up artists consider eyebrows to be the most important facial feature, as well defined brows will frame the eyes, make them look bigger and give the face a polished look. Shape your eyebrows before you apply any other make-up as this gives you a blank canvas to work with. Next, decide what shape you would like to achieve. It is best to stick to a simple and refined look, so follow the natural shape and arch of your brow. If it is your first time shaping your eyebrows, it is best to visit a professional, as they will be able to create an initial shape to suit your face, which you will be easy for you to maintain. If you are doing it at home, the basic guidelines for shaping eyebrows are to keep the beginning of the brow in a vertical line with the side of your nose and the end of the brow diagonal to the same spot. The easiest way to do this is to use a pencil/ruler to check. The arch should begin two thirds of the way from your inner brow, or just above the end of the eye. Use a slanted tweezers and always pluck from the bottom of the brow. Before you begin, brush the hair upwards. Then select the hair to be removed and brush this back down. Pluck each hair as close as possible to the root and whatever you do, be careful! If you pluck too little, you can always take a little more but if you take too much, there is no going back! Handy Tip: When doing your make-up for a night out, try using an eyebrow pencil or little brown eyeshadow to accentuate the brow for a more dramatic look. |
