Interviews are a pretty nerve-wracking experience as your fate can often be decided in a matter of seconds, so wearing the right outfit and getting the make up right is vitally important. The key here is to look well groomed and professional, so start with the basics. The beauty is in the detail, so keeping nails and eyebrows neat is essential. While bright nail colours can work in some situations, it is best to play it safe until you know more about the workplace environment, so try to keep nails short and filed with a nude shade or French polish. Eyebrows should be given a natural arch rather than an extreme shape, for a more friendly and approachable look. Facial piercings are also a big no-no, and keep jewellery to a minimum. A simple, fresh-faced look is perfect for a daytime meeting, so try a light concealer and foundation, such as the Rimmel Renew and Lift collection. This formula has a sheer, natural finish and will make you look wide-awake and alert, even if you've had a late night! A touch of blush will give you a confident glow, but take it easy; a Bosco impression is not a good look! Add a touch to the apple of the cheek and blend upwards. Eyeliner can look a bit harsh, so a simple application of a taupe eyeshadow is usually best. To add a little personality, try a light wash of colour on the eye, such as Stay Perfect Eye Mousse from No.7. We love the golden brown Fudge and green Khaki shades. Finish with a slick of brown mascara. An interview is no place to parade your latest fuchsia lipstick, so again, the rule is to keep it simple. A touch of clear lipgloss, a slight berry lip or a pale caramel shade are the way to go to finish your corporate look. For neutral shades that you can bring with you on the go, try the new autumn/winter palette from Sothy's (€52). This handy and pretty palette combines powder to eliminate shine, with everything else you need to look polished and put-together at all times! Remember confidence is key - so heads up, shoulders back and you are good to go! |
