I know it's a bit early to start thinking about Christmas party wear, but with the party season just around the corner it is the right time at least to put a few ideas out there and start budgeting for them.

December is a hectic time between work do's, nights out with friends, and nights out with family! Every woman likes to jazz it up at this time of year. The simple jeans and top combo that carried you through the summer and autumn just won't do, it has to be all about that dress or skirt at this most glamorous time of year. This week I have selected an outfit that could be worn to both a formal Christmas outing or a simple yet elegant night out with friends.

I have gone Topshop-mad this week with dress, shoes and jacket all coming from this high street store. This silk keyhole dress priced at £80 is amazing, it sits so easily on the skin. Be warned, though, this is for darker skin tones as it can wash out pale skin. These prestige premium court shoes are also priced at £80. The colour purple is all over the catwalks but mainly in clothing so these brightly coloured shoes add a touch of fun to this outfit.

The fold-collar jacket in navy is both practical and stylish. It is nipped in at the waist and the fold collar makes it look like a one-off piece, priced at £45 it can be worn dressed up or down.

I could not decide on which bag I prefer so I have opted to display both. They are available from Miss Selfridge stores.
