Your guide to the latest trends and how to work them Most offices can be quite laid back in terms of work wear these days, which, while welcome, can pose problems.

How do you look professional without wearing a suit? Will it take you effortlessly from day to evening? And is it fashionable without being too avant garde?

It can be almost impossible to find classic work wear that keeps the balance between fashion and professionalism. However, the high street does offer options.

While the Goth look is making a comeback, this season will also offer a great deal of colour and style to suit women of all shapes and sizes.

This week, I have selected some top buys from high street store Topshop – www.topshop.com.

This look could easily take you from day to evening. This pink skirt (priced at £35) has a tweed like consistency and has great detailing, with buttons running down the front and pockets to the side. Team with this classic crisp white shirt (priced at £28) with detailing around the neckline for a very professional look. Tuck the shirt in to define the waist and to show off the fullness of the skirt.

The leather heavy gladiator sandals shoes are from online fashion store ASOS.com (priced at £55). In the style of Sarah Jessica Parker, these are great teamed with any neutral coloured dress or skinny jeans.
