Whether your job requires brain or brawn, or a mix of both, eating healthily is extremely important to maintain energy levels.

Wholegrains have long been recognised as an integral part of an healthy diet and one of the easiest ways to fit them into your diet is with Weetabix.

"Your brain and body need fuel for action. Wholegrain cereals like Weetabix contain B vitamins like folate - important for mental function, thiamin (Vitamin B1) - important for energy and vitality and iron - important for mental development, function and energy production. Weetabix is also full of wholegrain, complex carbohydrates, which provide a steady release of energy and will help to keep you feeling fuller for longer," explains consultant dietitian Sian Porter.

According to Sian, you need food to give you energy for the job in hand and look after your bones and muscles. To make the most of food, she advises that people drink a glass of pure fruit juice to help absorb the iron. It is also recommended that people eat 30 minutes before exercising or have a post workout snack, such as two Weetabix with semi-skimmed or skimmed milk with fruit or nuts.

"Whether you're getting ready to go to work or need a quick pre-gym snack, eating well can make a difference to your eventual performance. Simple choices, like above, may help to provide an extra physical and mental boost."

Weetabix is available at all leading supermarkets, and are priced at €2.76 for a 24 pack.
