The programme is open to non-boxers or boxers with little boxing experience. It is an intense programme that takes participants from lacing on a boxing glove for the first time to fighting centre stage. Throughout, they learn everything from how to throw a right hand to how to skip like a pro.

For those concerned about safety and well-being, Cathal says that White Collar Boxing balances being a high adrenaline sport without being dangerous. Since its inception in 1988, there have been no reporter injuries. A clean bill of health is required before starting the training programme and head-guards and groin-guards are also worn, while referees are instructed to be extra cautious. A doctor and paramedics are at every fight.

The Million Dollar Baby for women programme, according to Cathal, lets women enjoy the benefits of training like a professional fighter without ending up with a face like one.

Galway's White Collar Boxers will be taking to the ring to display their new skills on Pre Christmas Fight Night in Galway. Training will start on Friday 21 September and spaces are limited.
