Page 1 of 2 If your skin is still suffering from the winter blues, then this latest celebrity craze may be the answer. Adored by stars including Charlize Theron, Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman, Ole Henriksen is the hottest name in skincare and his newest wonder treatment has just arrived in Galway! ![]() For years, Ole Henriksen's high-performance facials were confined to the Hollywood elite but now this effective skincare regime has finally reached the West and is available at the award-winning Spirit One spa at the Radisson SAS Hotel. With my skin having endured a tough few months of wind damage and pollution, I decided it was time to give it a treat and dragged fellow Galway Indo journalist Lisa Regan down to Lough Atalia Road to see what all the hype was about. After deciding to spoil ourselves by booking a room in the fabulous four-star hotel, we were shown to our suite on the Executive Fifth Floor. The expansive room was lavishly furnished with soft carpets and leather furniture and after discovering the flat screen TV, we thought twice about leaving the room at all! However, the lure of the unknown was strong enough to tempt us so we got decked out in robes and slippers and headed down to investigate Spirit One. I decided that I would start my pamper day with a little taste of stardom and booked in for an Ole Henriksen facial. My therapist Lisa spent the first ten minutes of the treatment explaining what it would entail and assessing what type of approach would suit me best. There are three different types of Ole Henriksen facial available at the spa – the purifying complexion treatment, calmative complexion treatment and a micro-mini peeling treatment. Due to my temperamental combination skin, I was advised that the purifying treatment would provide the best results for my skin type. Recommended for skin that is prone to breakouts and clogged pores, this facial is deep cleansing, pore tightening, balancing, calming and repairing. The key treatment steps include an essential oil facial compress, natural brush exfoliation, extraction, custom blended mask and a very relaxing aromatic face, neck, and a chest and shoulder massage. A typical Ole Henriksen facial utilises steam throughout the treatment as this increases the skins receptiveness to the active ingredients. Brush exfoliation ensures deep cleansing whilst the use of vacuum suction is highly effective in promoting lymphatic drainage. The use of galvanic currents throughout the various stages of the treatment not only aids in the deeper penetration of active ingredients, but also firms and tones muscle tissue. Apart from the dreaded but necessary extractions, the whole experience was very relaxing. Sealed away in the beautiful treatment room with soft music and aromas in the background, I felt a million miles away from my stressful lifestyle as I enjoyed a relaxing massage. Following the 1hr and 10min long facial, my therapist recommended a number of products from the Ole Henriksen range, which are all made from natural ingredients. |
