On a recent visit to the Galway Rotary club, national Rotary President Ray Cosgrove hailed the Galway club as one of Ireland's leading branches.

The Galway Rotary club, which has the motto 'service above self', is committed to the development of worthy causes locally, nationally and internationally. One of their recent events was a street collection for Cancer Care West, which raised in excess of €2,000.

According to club secretary, Michael Duke, the club is going from strength to strength and has had an increase in membership in recent months "due to our active community spirit".
