Galway hospitals' ratings fall in web survey |

The rankings of three Galway hospitals have fallen on the RateMyHospital.ie website at the time of the last survey.
Merlin Park Regional Hospital was ranked 18th out of 50 hospitals
surveyed up to 31 December 2006, with a rating of 69 per cent. This was
down from 12th position and 71 per cent. Portiuncula Hospital in
Ballinasloe was in 24th position with a rating of 68 per cent. It
dropped two rankings from 22nd position, coincidentally with a rating
of 68 per cent. University College Hospital Galway (UCHG) was ranked at
48th position, with a rating of 59 per cent. This was down three
places, while the rating remained the same.
UCHG
received a rating of 58 per cent and was placed 21st in a survey of the
Accident & Emergency Department. It received a rating of 61 per
cent and was placed in 23rd position in General Medicine. Other ratings
were Gynaecology, 45 per cent (19), Maternity, 58 per cent (15),
Oncology, 62 per cent (7), and Surgery, 64 per cent (21). Portiuncula
Hospital received the following ratings: Cardiology, 58 per cent (17),
General Medicine, 72 per cent (8) and Maternity, 79 per cent, (2).
Merlin Park Hospital received the following ratings: Orthopaedics, 66
per cent (11), Rheumatology, 65 per cent (1).
