For the first time in the West, The Irish Epilepsy Association, Brainwave, is holding its annual national conference in the city. The conference will take place in the Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill, on Saturday 3 November.

The event is a great opportunity for people with epilepsy, their families, carers and professionals from the area to come together to share their experiences and knowledge. It also provides the opportunity to become more aware of the difficulties and issues people with epilepsy still encounter, as well as learning about new developments and trends in the field.

"Brainwave is committed to working to meet the needs of all its members living with epilepsy," said a spokesperson for the association.

"I feel this is a great chance for us to bring about much needed awareness to the people in the West in relation to a condition that is still largely misunderstood," they added.
