Feminine fashion, hand-painted fabrics and embroidered embellishment were all over the catwalks at this season’s fashion shows, leaving no doubt that summer is on the horizon. Key trends included psychedelic prints, relaxed hippy style kaftans and sheer fabrics that cling to the body in delicate layers. Fashion maestro Michael Kors presented classic flowing gowns in pastel colours – perfect for the summer social scene - while Lanvin and Stella McCartney opted for frills and flounces to create a sexy yet girly look. The monochrome look is still out in force with one-shouldered dresses bang on season. Key colours for this summer include pastels, neutrals alongside hot pink, strong yellows and inky blues. When updating your wardrobe for the new season, your key pieces should include the ever-present belted trench coat in neutral cream or beige, a fifties-style fitted skirt, and a loose fitting print kaftan. Look for pieces incorporating details such as bows, broderie anglaise and block colour to channel effortless chic. This season, we love the grey ‘Face’ printed dress from Moschino Cheap and Chic (€510). This versatile dress is young and funky yet easy to wear due to its flattering shape. But if you are brave enough to go for a splash of colour, this washed silk print dress from Diane Von Furstenberg (€350) has a great tribal vibe that is perfect for those long summer evenings! Both dresses are available from Brown Thomas, so start saving those pennies now! |
