Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) Castlebar is holding an information afternoon on two of its programmes, Architectural Technology and Construction Management in Refurbishment and Maintenance, tomorrow (Thursday).

The event will take place in the Architectural Design Studio in the main campus building at GMIT Castlebar, Westport Road, from 3pm to 6pm. Leaving Cert students, their parents, mature applicants and the general public are invited to attend.

The B.Sc (Ord) Degree in Architectural Technology is a new course at GMIT Castlebar. Subjects include Architectural Design and Detailing, Computer Aided Design, History of Architecture, Building Science and Design Studio. The students also undertake field trips in Ireland and Europe.

The B.Sc (Ord) Degree in Construction Management in Refurbishment and Maintenance covers all aspects of Construction Management including Quantities and Measurement, Construction Management, Building Surveying, Construction Technology, Health and Safety, AutoCAD, Conversation and Building Economics. Graduates have been very successful both in Ireland and overseas.

The information afternoon session will cover entry criteria, mature student entry, course content and employment opportunities, as well as further education options for graduates of the course. Potential students will be given the opportunity to view work completed by current students.
