Galway County Council has launched a new initiative to keep pedestrians and cyclists safe on Galway roads. In association with Anchor Safety Ltd. and SuperValu, the council has launched the sale of hundreds of high visibility vests to pedestrians and cyclists and other road users in County Galway. With the evenings getting darker, it is vital that pedestrians and cyclists are seen, and Deirdre Caulfield, Road Safety Officer with Galway County Council, has urged members of the public to buy the vests. John Morgan, Director of Roads and Transportation Unit, said the campaign would be a great success if it saved just one life. The vests are available for €3.50 in the SuperValu stores throughout Co. Galway, including Hughes' Supermarket in Claregalway, McInerney's in Loughrea and O Tooles' in Tuam. |
