Former Galway Independent Campus columnist Gráinne McMahon is to front Galway's first dedicated television entertainment programme, 'Spotlight'.

Gráinne is a journalist in Galway, with experience in both print and local radio. She will produce and present the monthly television programme exclusively on City Channel Galway, where she will preview everything happening in Galway, from arts to entertainment to parades and top gigs. Spotlight currently airs on City Channel in Dublin and Waterford but continuing with City Channel's expansion in Galway, Gráinne has been chosen to front this new programme.

July's edition will give Galway audiences a taste of what is coming up during the Galway Arts Festival, the Galway Film Fleadh, the Saw Doctors summer gig and, of course, the annual Macnas Parade. Despite her hectic schedule, Gráinne says she is absolutely thrilled to be joining City Channel in its latest Galway venture.

"I'm so excited about this new challenge. I feel incredibly privileged to having been chosen to preview the hottest Galway events to audiences in my own home city. It's a dream come true," she said.

Gráinne, the daughter of Joe and Mary McMahon, holds a degree in Legal Science and French from NUI, Galway and a Masters in Journalism from Dublin City University.

Head of Programming with City Channel, Vanessa Kaminiski says she is delighted to welcome Gráinne to the City Channel Galway team: "A key part of City Channel programming is bringing information on local issues and events to local audiences and I am confident Gráinne will continue that tradition. We're delighted to welcome her on board."

Gráinne's first show aired last Friday 6 June, and will be repeated on Friday 13 on City Channel at 6.30pm.
