For one night only, Beoga and Lightscape perform ‘Before We Change Our Mind’, a new music and live visuals show, in Monroe’s Live on Thursday, 5 May.
One of Ireland’s best known trad groups, Beoga (‘Lively’) comes together with visual arts company Lightscape to perform a live one-off show of new music against the backdrop of a stunning visual display of projections. Lightscape are the first artists in Europe to use these techniques and it gives a rare opportunity to see and hear a new imagining of traditional music and a new wave of Irish artistry.
The visuals created by Lightscape are inspired by Beoga’s newly composed music from their new album ‘Before We Change Our Mind’, and the space and structures of the stage will be transformed into stunning 3D visual installations that make the music come to life.
Beoga are a five-piece band based in Antrim. Formed in 2002, they have become one of the most popular and influential ensembles in modern Irish music. Their unique sound features the twin duelling accordions of Damian McKee and multi-instrumentalist Seán Óg Graham, pianist Liam Bradley and four times All-Ireland bodhrán champion Eamon Murray. In 2005, the line-up was complete, with the addition of Niamh Dunne, one of Ireland’s premier young talents, on vocals and fiddle.
Lightscape specialises in using video mapping and 3D visual technologies to create a stunning visual display and light show. Founding member, visual artist and designer Brian Kenny, has had his work shown extensively throughout Ireland and internationally in Germany, America, Jordan and South Africa. This is a once off show that will showcase some of Ireland’s leading talents in music and art, and is an exciting new creation that will set the stage alight and delight audiences.
