Dear Editor,
I am Eastern European and have been living with my partner and two children in this country for a number of years. Since I came to Ireland I have been very pleased and satisfied with the social welfare system and, in particular, the good children's allowance.
I am entitled and in receipt of a rent allowance, a medical card and I receive my social welfare payment, which I collect at the local post office in Newcastle.
I have applied to the city council for social housing, which I am entitled to, and I have been advised that when I get my property, I will be entitled to get all my furniture and electrical goods.
My children and I have a very good lifestyle in this country and my worry is that with the downturn in the economy, we could become victims of government cuts. I hope this does not happen because the rest of the world should learn form the generosity and Christianity of the Irish people.
Thank you
