Dear Editor, Two more pathetic letters to endure. The first letter tackles bull-fighting in Spain. The anti-blood nuts now believe that they can influence Spanish Law. Their audacity is incredible. I don't agree with bullfighting but I think that the Spanish people are educated enough to deal with the matter themselves. No doubt they have their own misguided crackpots to put up with. The second letter from Mr Fitzgerald is just a cheap shot at our equestrian sports. Just to let you know, there are no foxes in the RDS. Once again, you have been quick to tar everyone with the same brush, even those who enjoy equestrian sports without the fox. At this point, I would like to express my deep concern at the consistency that these individuals are being given media coverage by your paper. The volume of these publications greatly outweighs their minority standing in Irish life. While we all agree that everyone is entitled to their opinion, the press must play a role in the production of material that is not out of balance with the general public position. Otherwise, the press is playing a role in influencing public opinion. Some form of pre-selective process must be applied in order to balance contentious issues for both parties involved. Providing my name and address to crackpots is just stupid. |
